The business grew rapidly with agencies in various countries. Then in 1921 they established the Bankers' and Traders' Insurance Company. Both companies survived the Great Depression and the stock market crash of 1929. In 1959 each company purchased a stake in The Equitable Probate and General Insurance Company and then in 1973 these three companies engaged in one of the largest mergers in Australian corporate history to form the QBE Insurance Group with one of its divisions called QBE Australia.
